The Fiat Grande Panda brings style and substance back to small cars
At the 2025 Autocar Awards the Grande Panda has just picked up Best Small Car and that’s no small nod.
Autocar isn’t in the habit of handing out praise lightly, so when they do, people pay attention. Especially when it’s aimed at something this unapologetically… different.
And that’s kind of the point.
This isn’t Fiat chasing trends. It’s Fiat remembering what made the Panda matter in the first place then rebuilding it for now.
You’ve got a car that’s compact, properly usable, and actually looks like someone enjoyed designing it. Those stamped “Panda” details, the nod to Lingotto in the interior it’s clever without trying too hard. A bit of personality in a segment that’s usually allergic to it.
Underneath, it’s built on Stellantis’ Smart-Car platform, so it’s flexible. Electric or hybrid, take your pick. The EV version runs a 44kWh battery with 113hp and just under 200 miles of range enough for real-world use without overcomplicating things. The hybrid keeps it simple too: a 1.2 turbo, 110hp, and a proper dual-clutch auto.
But the interesting stuff is in the thinking.
Like the charging cable stored under the bonnet not in the boot, not loose, not annoying. Or the use of recycled materials throughout the cabin. Even bamboo fibre in the dash on higher trims. It’s not gimmicky, it’s just… considered.
