2020 marks a new milestone in the history of Fiat. The electrification of the brand will begin with the launch of the new mild hybrid versions of the Fiat 500 and Panda.

What are the benefits of the new engine?

The hybrid engine will improve the fuel efficiency and reduces the CO2 emissions on the road without impacting on the performance.

To celebrate this new technology Fiat are releasing a Launch Edition for the Fiat 500 and Panda. Along with the distinctive styling of the new Hybrid logo and exclusive Dew Green exterior paint colour. These cars will also feature the new Seaqual Yarn on their seats. The weaving produces a material certified from Seaqual, which comes from recycled plastic. The recycled plastic is generated from the Sea and Land, of which 10% is from the Sea and 90% from Land.

Technical name: 1.0 GSE N3 70hp BSG



What does 1.0 GSE N3 stand for?

The Global Small Engine N3 is a petrol engine derived from the 500X new Firefly engine.

The new Engine has the following main features:
  • 1.0L 70HP, 3-cylinder Naturally Aspirated
  • 6-speed manual only transmission
  • Equipped with a 12V BSG system


What does BSG stand for?
The Belt-driven Starter Generator is an electric machine set on the engine belt that works along a
battery enabling the engine to turn off whenever the car is coasting, braking or stopping and the vehicle speed is less than 19mph. The BSG also provides power assist to the engine during acceleration.
