Used Cars - Whats Included

We take great care before buying a vehicle and carryout comprehensive history checks to give you the reassurance you need.
What is included in the History Check?

Vehicle description
We confirm the vehicle make, model, colour, engine size and number, fuel type, transmission and door plan, the date it was manufactured and date it was originally registered by the DVLA.

Finance check
We investigate if the vehicle is recorded on hire purchase or has an existing loan secured against it. If a loan or hire purchase agreement is still outstanding and we buy the vehicle, the finance company will retain a legal interest in it until the loan is paid in full by TJ Vickers.

Stolen check
We use information via a third party from the Police National Computer to check if the vehicle is registered as stolen. If the vehicle appears to be stolen we inform the police. Please note the registration document is not necessarily proof of ownership.

Condition check
We check if the vehicle has been recorded as written-off by an insurance company due to damage or theft related insurance claim. We also check if the car has been exported or imported.

High risk check
We check if the vehicle is classified as 'high risk' - i.e. it is likely that it's being sold fraudulently. If a vehicle appears as 'high risk' we inform the data provider.

Registration plate check
We check any previous registration plates held on the vehicle using the VIN number. Vehicle registration numbers are sometimes changed to hide part of the vehicle's history. We can track the vehicle's history even if the registration plate has been changed.

Keeper & and colour check
We check details of the number of keepers that the vehicle has previously had and the dates of those changes. We also check if the vehicle has changed colour.

Mileage check
We check the mileage of the vehicle using a number of methods and third party sources including previous owners. This sometimes can be a lengthy process and may rely on tracing the previous owners together with their willingness to respond.

Physical vehicle inspection
If we are happy with the history checks we then carry out a 60-point Quality vehicle inspection to ensure the vehicle is of a standard commensurate with the age and mileage recorded.

All cars have either 3 months named parts and labour warranty or remaining balance of the manufacturers warranty.
