Sports Utility Vehicle looks, pacey performance and the ability to cross over from 2 to 4 wheel drive at the flick of a switch on the GLX 4GRIP models. Why stick to the straight and narrow? Life isn't all one-way systems and junctions, manicured lawns and washing the car on Sundays. Sometimes you want to leave the frappes, the mochas and the cappuccinos behind. Sometimes you yearn for country lanes, cobbled streets and wide open spaces. Wherever you go, the SX4 will help you on your way to one adventure after another.
Even our technology likes to be different
The SX4 isn't just unique in its crossover thinking, it's unique in its engine offering. Both petrol and diesel are available and both deliver the necessary torque for urban and outdoor lifestyles. Nothing out of the ordinary you might think, but it's the sparkling performance that captures the imagination. Each engine is designed to deliver sporty, high-powered performance with sharp acceleration across the entire rev range. They're all incredibly efficient when it comes to fuel consumption but, for something really different, go for the GLX 4GRIP model. This version has Suzuki's i-AWD (intelligent All Wheel Drive) switchable three-mode 4x4 system. An electric control coupling device enables 4WD-Auto, 4WD-Lock, and 2WD modes to be selected at the touch of a button. Select 4WD-Lock and this is maintained until 40mph for full traction. Then it automatically switches over to 4WD-Auto mode for smooth cruising. Select 2WD mode for permanent 2 wheel drive.
A unique interior experience
There's nothing quite like the SX4. Not on the outside. Not on the inside. Our cross over thinking means you'll find the high driving position and great all round visibility of a Sports Utility Vehicle with the refinement and equipment levels of a car: tinted glass, electric windows, power steering, automatic air conditioning and audio system with eight speakers. Whether you're changing gear or changing lane, the driver's environment is designed to put all controls within easy reach. This ensures the driving experience is always controlled and relaxed.
An interior designed for outdoors
Muddy fields, city walls or sandy beaches? With the interior of the SX4, we really have thought of everything. Seat height, seat positioning and space are all developed for comfort and practicality on long journeys. High ground clearance, large door openings and split folding backseats increase boot size so your suitcases and camping gear can fit in just as naturally as a family of five. We've also blended style with functionality by creating discreet storage compartments and large bottle holders that are just as handy on a summer picnic as they are on the morning commute. The result is a passenger environment which can cope with anything you decide to throw at it.
Designed for safety. Built for adventure
To start great adventures you have to feel completely confident with your vehicle. That's why we always aim to maximise the safety features in our products. To begin with, the SX4 has an elevated driving position to allow greater all round visibility and control. It also benefits from an incredibly tough body structure with front and rear crumple zones that absorb impact energy. Further safety is provided with ABS and an Electronic Brake Force System that ensures braking power is applied evenly to each wheel and prevents the brakes locking in an emergency stop. Inside you'll find front, side and curtain airbags,3-point seat belts and child-seat anchors that combine to create maximum comfort and safety throughout the reinforced cabin. It all adds up to an incredibly safe car. So much so, EURO NCAP awarded the SX4 4 stars for occupant protection and 3 stars for pedestrian and child protection.
Flying high
Having established a serious reputation in the Junior World Rally Championship with the Swift, we conducted extensive research and development during 2007 and are now competing in the 2008 World Rally Championship with our SX4. Our progress will be detailed every step of the way and each piece of technical feedback we receive will directly influence the cars we create for you.
